
On October 23, Nankai University (NKU) welcomed a 45-member faculty delegation from Cheju Halla University, the Republic of Korea, led by Shin Wui-Kyung, Vice President for International Affairs, Ko Seok-Yong, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Lee Young-Joon, Vice President for Planning and Management. The delegation was received by Chen Jun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of NKU, on Balitai Campus.
Vice President Chen extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He highlighted the steady progress and remarkable achievements the two universities have achieved through long-term partnership in initiatives such as the Confucius Institute, joint student training, and cultural exchanges. The partnership between the two universities has continued to advance steadily and has yielded remarkable achievements. Looking ahead, he expressed his hope to further deepen cooperation between the two sides in joint student training, while actively exploring new models of cooperation and promoting faculty exchange, collaborative research, and joint cultivation of innovative talent.
Vice President Shin expressed her gratitude to NKU for the gracious hospitality. She emphasized that Cheju Halla University places high importance on long-standing partnership with NKU. She conveyed the hope to expand collaboration between the two universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, new energy, economics, and biomedicine. She also looked forward to trilateral cooperation with NKU and the University of Macau within the RISE framework of the ROK government.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the NKU College of Artificial Intelligence. Through an exchange session with faculty representatives, they gained comprehensive understanding of the college’s research progress and talent cultivation models. Then they toured relevant laboratories and visited the NKU History Exhibition and the Central Library on Jinnan Campus. The delegation spoke highly of NKU’s campus environment as well as teaching and research facilities.
