During the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference held in Beijing from November 14 to 16, the NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business-Rouen—co-established by Nankai University and NEOMA Business School in France—was awarded the title of “2025 Outstanding Test Center for the International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate”.
At the conference, Chen Jun, Executive Vice President of Nankai University, attended the China-CELAC Forum of Education Development. He also visited the recruitment booths of NKU’s School of International Education, where he inquired in detail about international student recruitment and encouraged staff to further strengthen the “Study in NKU” brand.
Taking the opportunity of this World Chinese Language Conference, Nankai University hosted the 3rd International Chinese Language Education Joint Conference on the afternoon of November 17. This event was attended by Chen Jun, José de Paula Barros Neto, Vice President of the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil, and Chinese and foreign director representatives from NKU’s overseas Confucius Institutes and Chinese language teaching institution across nine countries.

In his speech, Chen Jun highlighted that Nankai has cultivated approximately 120,000 Chinese language learners and engaged 600,000 participants in cultural exchanges through its overseas Confucius Institutes and Chinese language education institution. The university has built a global “3+3+3” cooperation network, becoming a vital bridge for intercultural learning and an exemplary platform for educational collaboration. Looking ahead, NKU will work with partners to build a community of “collaborative innovation” and develop new digitally driven models, contributing to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Attendees shared their experiences in promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations and reported on their 2025 work progress and 2026 plans. The conference also honored Zhou Shen, former Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow, for his contributions to Confucius Institute initiatives.

During the conference, Chen Jun held talks with José de Paula Barros Neto. Both sides spoke highly of the achievements made since the establishment of their co-founded Confucius Institute and the outcomes of inter-university cooperation. They reached consensus on further strengthening multi-dimensional collaboration between the two universities amid the historically best period of China–Brazil relations.
During their visit, representatives from seven partner institutions of Nankai’s overseas Confucius Institutes—NEOMA Business School (France), University of Minho (Portugal), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Federal University of Ceará (Brazil), Jeju Halla University (ROK), Yeditepе University (Türkiye), and Aichi University (Japan)—visited Nankai schools for inspections and exchanges. Discussions covered cooperation in areas such as research, translated publications, business training, joint talent program, international conferences, and faculty–student exchanges, aiming to enhance collaborative innovation.
