Renowned Historian Donald Worster Delivers Lecture Series on “Planet Earth Has a History”

From March 9 to 13, Professor Donald Worster, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Kansas, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and one of the founders and leading scholars of environmental history, was invited to deliver three lectures as part of the second Lei Haizong Lecture in History under the theme “Planet Earth Has a History” at Nankai University.

Chen Zhiqiang, Chair Professor at Nankai University, presented Professor Donald Worster with a commemorative certificate for Lei Haizong Lecture in History.

The three lectures focused respectively on “Planet Earth Has a History: The Future of the Past” and two pivotal human transformations over hunter-gatherer, agricultural and industrial capitalist society. Professor Donald Worster also engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty members and students on research methodologies in environmental history, global ecological challenges, and interdisciplinary approaches to research.
