On May 28, Niu Wenli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, met with Sabine Rein, President of HTWG Konstanz – University of Applied Sciences, at Haibing Center on Balitai Campus, Nankai University.

Niu Wenli welcomed Sabine Rein and briefed her on Nankai University’s achievements in education, distinctive strengths in research, and international exchanges. He said that Nankai University and HTWG Konstanz have strong complementary strengths across disciplines, and expressed hope that the two universities would deepen cooperation through academic exchanges, collaborative research, and joint education programs to cultivate interdisciplinary and application-oriented talents, and further promote friendship and people-to-people ties between young people in China and Germany.

Sabine Rein thanked Nankai University for its warm reception and introduced HTWG Konstanz’s century-long history and academic profile. She said that HTWG Konstanz has built long-standing, trust-based partnerships with Chinese universities over the past several decades. As Chairwoman of the Wissenschaftsverbund Vierländerregion Bodensee (Lake Constance Arts & Sciences Association), she hoped that this visit would help advance cooperation with Chinese universities, including Nankai University, in relevant disciplines and produce practical outcomes in faculty and student exchanges, research collaboration and other areas.

On that day, Sabine Rein attended the signing ceremony for the “German + Economics” dual-degree joint education program at Nankai University’s School of Foreign Studies. She also delivered a lecture titled “From Tianjin to Lake Constance: Studying and Living in Germany”.
