The 2026 World Intelligence Expo opened on May 28 at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin), bringing together more than 700 exhibitors to showcase cutting-edge achievements in intelligent technology. Zhao Meirong, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, attended the opening ceremony.

At this year’s expo, Nankai University presented its achievements in the intelligent technology exhibition area for Tianjin universities. The university selected more than 20 outstanding projects from its schools and colleges, including College of Artificial Intelligence, College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering, College of Computer Science, and College of Chemistry. The expo offered a comprehensive display of Nankai University’s research achievements in intelligent technology, as well as representative projects that have been commercialized and incubated in Tiankai Higher Education Innovation Park.

A project team from the College of Artificial Intelligence showcased a snake robot equipped with self-developed joint servo actuators. Integrating five major functions, including driving, deceleration, braking, power supply and communication, the robot can not only move on flat ground, but also climb railings, pass through pipelines, and operate steadily in unstructured environments such as grassland and sand. “Its snake-like configuration offers unique advantages in specialized applications. Some of these ‘metal snake-shaped robots’ can be used for specialized industrial inspections, such as pipeline inspection,” said Guo Xian, professor at the College of Artificial Intelligence and head of the project. He said that the team’s related technologies are being gradually transferred for practical applications, with plans to expand into educational programming and other fields.

An all-terrain intelligent transport vehicle called Yuxing Knight is particularly well-suited for emergency rescue operations, where it can greatly improve response and rescue efficiency. With a maximum battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge, it also supports multi-level folding storage and fits into the trunk of a standard car. In the future, the device is expected to be used in outdoor exploration, agricultural transport, scenic-area logistics and other fields.

At the “AI Native” exhibition area, a range of technologies combining frontier innovation with interactive and engaging experiences drew large crowds. Highlights included an intelligent machine that can make traditional sugar paintings and the HAD holographic aerial display interaction system developed by Tianjin Hanhai Xingyun Digital Technology Co., Ltd. A series of high-end intelligent sensing and analysis systems capable of navigation, positioning and multi-source information fusion in environments without satellite navigation signals, such as underwater areas and tunnels, attracted strong interest from professional visitors and related companies. Health care products from Tianjin Tiankai Ruilai Co., Ltd. and Tiankai Yunlai Co., Ltd., as well as a new drug candidate for brain metastases from small cell lung cancer developed by Accendatech, also drew attention from the public and the media.
